ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY IV
Interviews for the Department of Parks & Recreation and PSG Executive Office will take place the week of May 5, 2025.

The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Administrative Secretary IV. Current vacancies are with the Department of Parks and Recreation

(DPR), Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), and Public Safety Group (PSG); however, the eligible list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in other County departments.

The Administrative Secretary IV will frequently interact with, and provide customer service to the public, County employees, high level public and private sector executives, elected officials, and a variety of external stakeholders. Employees in this job class will also respond to inquiries via telephone, email, and in person; prepare correspondence on behalf of the executive office; schedule appointments and meetings; maintain administrative and confidential files; and manage the secretarial and administrative functions of the executive office.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and function calmly in challenging situations which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy; establish effective working relationships with management, employees, employee representatives, and the public; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; exercise appropriate judgment in answering questions and releasing information; and analyze and project consequences of decisions and/or recommendations. The ideal candidate will also possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of County staff, representatives from outside stakeholder groups/agencies, and the public in a diplomatic manner is essential.

HIRING TIMELINE AND DATES
  • Job Offer and Background Process begins after interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Four (4) years of secretarial experience performing a wide range of personal and confidential secretarial duties, OR,
  2. Four (4) years of executive-level or administrative support performing increasingly complex tasks and assignments that demonstrates discretion in decision-making, interacting and communicating with executives or board members, and a strong attention to details and organizational skills, OR,
  3. One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Secretary III for the County of San Diego.

Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) monthemployment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental application forms.
