POSITION TITLE: Administrative Assistant to the Associate Principal

POSITION GROUP: HESSA (Level IV)

DEPARTMENT: Student Support Services

REPORTS TO: Associate Principal

SUPERVISES: N/A

FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for organizing and coordinating office operations and procedures in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  1. Twelve (12) Month
  2. Eight (8) hours per day
  3. May include extended days to assist with building event and meeting preparation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Provide office and clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of the building and the Associate Principal.
  3. Maintain record keeping systems of data and generate reports.
  4. Prepare testing materials and Coordinate for federal, state, and local assessments.
  5. Coordinate and enter student accommodations into testing databases.
  6. Facilitate ninth grade transition with sender districts and department coordinators.
  7. Create and disseminate bulk mailings for the Associate Principal.
  8. Receive and respond to requests for information both verbally and in writing.
  9. Input and update master schedule.
  10. Assist in the annual registration process.
  11. Keep current with best practices and requirements as they relate to the job assignment.
  12. Perform such other job related duties and assume such other professional responsibilities as assigned or delegated.
  13. Represent Hononegah Community High School in a professional manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. High School Diploma, Associate Degree preferred
  2. At least three years of experience clerical roles
  3. Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers and various word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs and the use of other office equipment.
ANALYTICAL & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
  1. Ability to read and interpret documents.
  2. Ability to write routinely and speak effectively before groups of employees.
  3. Ability to work independently and in an acceptable time frame.
  4. Ability to maintain efficient office procedures and systems for keeping track of requested action and reports.
  5. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and apply basic concepts of algebra.
  6. Ability to apply critical thinking skills and new technologies in rendering solutions to various technical issues.
  7. Ability to use technology for word processing, collaboration, presentation, database, and spreadsheet programs and the use of other office equipment.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain effective, appropriate working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  9. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with proper technique.
  2. Ability to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, and sit for extended periods of time.
  3. Ability to bend and twist at the neck and trunk to maneuver office work spaces.
  4. Ability to hear and see close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and perceive depth.
  5. Ability to use fine motor skills to complete detailed work for use on office equipment and technology.

Hours/Benefits:
  • 12 month position
  • Eight-hour workday
  • Paid vacation, sick, and personal days available
  • 5 day vacation bonus.

  • Level IV secretary/ Per HESSA Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • $20.98 per hour (rest of 24-25 school year) $21.56 starting July 1, 2025
