DescriptionThe Administrative Assistant position with the Protection of Abuse office provides administrative support to the 11th Judicial District for the adjudication of proceedings filed under the Protection from Abuse Act (PFA). The position involves both in and out of court activities. The position requires interaction with the public for providing information, assistance in document completion, filing of documents, computer data entry and attendance at court proceedings to facilitate case resolution. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Judges of The Court of Common Pleas of Luzerne County. Training and skill development shall be provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide assistance to individuals filing a PFA
- Data entry for PFA related cases
- Completion of PFA Court documents
- Filing of documents
- Provide assistannce in and out of courtroom to the PFA Judge.
- Administrative record keeping.
- Any and all duties assigned as determined by Court Administration
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent communications skills, ability to work independently, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Highly motivated and able to work in a high pressure and fast-paced environment with the ability to adjust accordingly.
Effectively multi-task using computer systems. Receive, comprehend and accurately respond to verbal information and directions.
Satisfactory criminal background check required and drug and alcohol test. Participate in and satisfactorily complete extensive training in policy and procedure with multiple computer systems.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma and at least 3 years of experience with administrative clerical and/or data entry.
Associates degree preferred.
I. Medical Insurance The coverage begins for the employee the on the first of the month following the first full 30 days of full-time employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Cost to the employee to participate in the plan varies by the coverage selection and the number of dependents; and may be subject to collective bargaining agreement. The employee may also elect to opt out of the County's medical insurance if proof of coverage is provided. Under this arrangement, the employee is provided with an annual opt out payment.
II. Vision and Prescription The coverage begins for the employee on the first of the month following the first full 30 days of full-time employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Contributions may vary, subject to collective bargaining agreement.
III. Dental Coverage The coverage begins for the employee on the first of the month following the first full 30 days of full-time employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Contributions may vary, subject to collective bargaining agreement.
IV. Life Insurance A $50,000 life insurance policy is afforded to full-time employees, unless specified differently in a collective bargaining agreement. It remains in effect as long as the employee is actively employed and terminates upon resignation or retirement.
V. Retirement All full-time employees and part-time employees working more than 1,000 hours per year qualify for Luzerne County retirement benefits, in which employees must contribute 5% of their earnings, and may choose to add to an additional voluntary contribution, not to exceed an additional 10%.
