Administrative Assistant

Metals USA has an opportunity for an Administrative Assistant in the Waggaman, LA facility. The Administrative Assistant performs a variety of administrative or clerical duties with minimal variation and requires moderate skill level.
  • Answers phones, files, maintains records, and databases.
  • Maintains electronic and hard copy filing system.
  • Processes applications or forms and runs reports.
  • Distributes documents, sorts and routes mail.
  • Performs data entry, copying, faxing, scanning, and mailing.
  • Conducts basic research to provide answers or best course of action in non-routine situations.
  • Assists in resolving any administrative problems.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of an administrative assistant.
  • Adheres to Reliance Steel, Inc. Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in business, communications or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience providing general office, administrative assistance and support.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to enter data accurately and promptly in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to follow company office practices and procedures to include, filing, customer service, attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to work effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, deadline driven organization
  • Ability to show professionalism and diplomacy to include telephone customer service skills.
  • Experience creating and supporting an Access database system.
  • Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen
