Job Purpose:
The Fund Development Specialist will provide essential administrative support for the New Birth of Freedom Council's fundraising and development initiatives. This is an in-office position based at our Service Center in Mechanicsburg, with an upcoming relocation to a state-of-the-art facility at Camp Tuckahoe in Dillsburg this June.
Job Summary:
The Fund Development Specialist supports the Council's fundraising and development initiatives, focusing on processing contributions through our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Blackbaud. This role also provides administrative assistance to the Director of Development. As part of a cross-trained support team, the specialist will perform various essential tasks, including processing transactions for in-person customers at the service center using a point-of-sale system, handling data entry for membership records, conducting background checks, and more. Additional duties include answering phone calls and emails, filing, preparing mailings, and assisting with printing and copying tasks.
Essential Functions:
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date donor database, including data entry, gift processing,
issuing receipts, and generating reports.
• Manage individual and organizational donor profiles, ensuring accurate biographical,
geographical, professional, financial, and other pertinent information is up to date.
• Provide sponsorship support and assist in planning for the Council's four major Special
Events: the York Distinguished Citizen, Golf Tournament, Sporting Clays Shoot, and
Eagle Dinner.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate data entry for all donor
information, maintaining the integrity of the database.
• Prepare and distribute monthly donor acknowledgment letters and payment reminder
mailers.
• Assist in reconciling fundraising reports with the Council's overall financial records.
• File processed documents and maintain organized records.
• Respond to inquiries from auditors during annual audits.
• Communicate regularly with donors, staff, and volunteers to support ongoing development
efforts.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures regarding fundraising
recordkeeping.
• Provide general office assistance and support for events as needed.
• Adapt and learn new systems for efficient data entry and processing.
• Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
• Serve as a backup for other administrative support functions when needed.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Blackbaud CRM fundraising system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work flexible hours during peak seasons as needed.

Compensation:
Scouting America, New Birth of Freedom Council, is an equal opportunity employer. The starting salary for this position is $17.00 per hour, based on a 35-hour workweek.
