Part-Time Administrative Assistant: $30.79 - $39.30/hour, DOQ

HELIX WATER DISTRICT is looking for a talented Part-Time Administrative Assistant to add to its team. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with strong administrative and customer service skills.

The Details:
  • SCHEDULE: Our ideal candidate will be available to work Monday through Thursday (9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) and every other Friday (8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)
  • SALARY: $30.79 - $39.30/hour. Where our successful candidate starts in the pay range depends on their qualifications. Part time positions are limited to 950 hours per fiscal year. (July 1 - June 30)
  • WORK LOCATION: This position is based out of our Operations Center in El Cajon.
  • BENEFITS: Part-time employees receive 40 hours of paid sick leave once they reach their 90th date of employment. (Part-time employees do not receive medical, dental, vision or retirement benefits)
Overview of Responsibilities
Our Part-Time Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of administrative, secretarial support and customer service functions. Our successful candidate will provide technical assistance via telephone, e-mail, or in person to customers with routine water service and meter-related questions and concerns. You will also answer customer questions, respond and resolve customer requests for information and complaints, referring matters to appropriate staff and/or assist in resolving the request or complaint. All while handling those issues with sensitivity, discretion and judgment.
Assists in maintaining and updating a variety of administrative and technical manuals; distributes materials for review and updating; prepares revisions for final review; compiles, copies and distributes updated documents.
Receives, verifies, obtains approval and processes invoices for payment; prepares invoices to other agencies and vendors; prepares and processes expense and claim forms.
Organizes and maintains records, files and research materials.
Orders, organizes and maintains stock of supplies.
Works as a member of a self-directed work team; participates in setting priorities and allocating work requirements; researches and evaluates department equipment and budget needs.
May act as back-up for the customer service representative at the operations center.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible office administrative or secretarial experience.
Candidates must have a minimum of 45 net wpm typing (keyboarding) speed.
Training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
A valid Class C California driver's license and ability to maintain insurability under the district's vehicle insurance policy.
