Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Dean, the Administrative Assistant position provides a wide range of complex and responsible administrative support services for full-time faculty, staff, and adjunct instructors at the Culinary Institute of Charleston. The role requires the interpretation of operating policies and the execution of duties that demand independent judgment. This position is critical for the division, as the administrator serves as a liaison between other divisions, colleges, students, faculty members, and the community. Additionally, the administrator is responsible for maintaining the division's course schedule, managing the instructor database, and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and one (1) year of related work experience, OR an associate degree and three (3) years of related work experience, OR a high school diploma and five (5) years of work experience is preferred. Ideal candidate will have experience with administrative support services that include submitting contracts and support documentation and office equipment. Experience training other employees is a plus. Strong computer skills are a must. This position will display self-direction, leadership, cooperation, and initiative and work effectively with administrative support staff, academic deans, department heads, coordinators, and faculty across all campuses. The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities and be willing to be flexible enough to meet the extended hours of operation during peak periods. Must be organized and detail-oriented and can initiate and complete duties and special assignments with limited supervision while exercising judgment and discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism. Must be able to function in an environment characterized by continual changes in information technology. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as maintaining confidentiality, are essential.
