The Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science at Indiana University, Bloomington, is hiring a full-time administrative assistant to support our active research center. The administrative assistant will support an interdisciplinary team that includes software developers, data scientists, medical illustrators, biologists, and project managers. Primary areas of responsibility include scheduling, purchasing, arranging travel, event planning, and communications.
The CNS mission is to advance research, development, teaching, and service in data mining, modeling, and visualization. Specific foci are increased data visualization literacy and research on multi-level atlases of the structure and evolution of science and technology (see Mapping Science Exhibit), mapping the human body at the single cell level (see Human Reference Atlas publication and HuBMAP portal), and the communication of results via static and interactive data visualizations (see courses like the Visible Human MOOC).
Job Summary Department Specific Responsibilities
- Provides general administrative support to the center, exercising tact and confidentiality.
- Serves as a point of contact for visitors and external collaborators.
- Schedules meetings and arrange hospitality.
- Arranges travel for faculty and Staff.
- Purchases materials and supplies and track center expenses.
- Supports center events.
- Serves as a communicator for the Central by publicizing events, managing content for the center's website, and managing the Center's social media accounts.
General Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to a department or group of professionals, exercising confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Utilizes business software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.
- Compiles data for expense and statistical reports.
- Receives, screens, and directs incoming calls, visitors, mail, and email promptly, courteously, and accurately.
- Schedules and confirms appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements; tracks expenses.
- Participates in the development and implementation of administrative standards, policies and practices for the organization.
- May perform other duties related to maintaining an internal website and/or working with social media.
Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required - High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required - 2 years of relevant experience

Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional Information $15.00 - $22.92 per hour
Work Location Bloomington, Indiana
Work Hours Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
