Description HOURS: Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Provide administrative and clerical assistance for the Community Development Department. Support the department by executing and keeping accurate records of transactions, correspondence, code violation documentation, processing of rental licenses and other pertinent business.
Summary of Duties MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: This is not an attempt to list all work operations of this job position. Duties generally include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Performs general administrative/clerical duties as required including preparing mailings and typing correspondences, reports, and citizen letters. Drafts responses to letters for department members as needed.
2. Maintain various department records, computer files, laser fiche, etc. in an orderly, accurate manner including proper record retention.
3. Assist Code Enforcement by scheduling property inspections, preparation of notices of violations, preparation of mailings and citations, phone calls, etc.
4. Assist with Rental Licensing by accepting and processing rental applications and materials, record keeping, rental license renewals, preparation of letters, phone calls, etc.
5. Will serve as back-up for Building Permit Technician.
6. Will assist other City departments as needed with general clerical/office tasks as needed.

4. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent and/or as assigned.
5. Deal effectively and tactfully with the public and other City personnel; and act in best interest of the department and City when interacting with the public.
7. Ability to work independently, with limited supervision and prioritize daily work load.
8. Able to handle confidential information appropriately and according to State Law.
9. Willingness to learn new skills, new programs, and adapt to the changing needs of the community and department.
10. Ability to work effectively under pressure and be able to meet deadlines.

Qualifications/Prerequisites EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITE(S): 1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 2 years administrative/clerical experience performing a variety of duties such as preparing correspondence, scheduling inspections/appointments, filing, etc.
3. Experience working with office equipment and general computing skills; experience and ability to work with Microsoft Office programs and specialty software programs.
