Job Description:

If so, The Academic Success Center within the Dean of Students Office (DSO) at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for an Administrative Assistant II. This individual will provide administrative support along with other duties for the office.

The Academic Success Center (ASC) empowers students to seek academic support and collaborate with our trained peer leaders to promote impactful learning and community for all. We provide a variety of services to help students succeed, including tutoring, supplemental instruction, writing and communication consultations, and academic skills coaching.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage and maintain the ASC general email account
  • Coordinate and manage incoming calls, emails, and visitors for the office
  • Order supplies along with processing the transactions
  • Serve as primary point of contact for room reservations within the building
  • Update and prepare newsletters and other communications
  • Coordinate and organize schedules, trainings, etc.
  • Assist staff with travel arrangements, invoicing, reconciliations, etc.
  • Hire and supervise student employees for reception
  • Assist with data and reporting
  • Design flyers and handouts for ASC programs
  • Update content on ASC website
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention-to-detail and strong problem-solving abilities. They should demonstrate initiative, adaptability to change, and a passion for innovation.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature
• Applies thorough knowledge to respond to inquiries and requests
• Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
