Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM The Town of La Plata is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Administrative Assistant I to join our Planning Department in a
part-time capacity. This front-line role provides essential administrative support that keeps the department running smoothly and ensures we deliver excellent service to residents, businesses, and development professionals.
What You'll Do: - Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, phone calls, and department emails
- Coordinate the intake, tracking, and filing of development applications and related materials
- Assist with the preparation of agendas, minutes, and mailings for boards and commissions
- Schedule inspections and facilitate communication with developers, inspectors, and internal staff
- Maintain accurate and organized digital and physical records
- Support the Planning team with general administrative tasks and special projects
Requirements
What We're Looking For: - A high school diploma or GED
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in administrative or office support (government or planning experience preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn planning software (e.g., Municity)
