Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

The Town of La Plata is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant I to join our Planning Department in a part-time capacity. This front-line role provides essential administrative support that keeps the department running smoothly and ensures we deliver excellent service to residents, businesses, and development professionals.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, phone calls, and department emails
  • Coordinate the intake, tracking, and filing of development applications and related materials
  • Assist with the preparation of agendas, minutes, and mailings for boards and commissions
  • Schedule inspections and facilitate communication with developers, inspectors, and internal staff
  • Maintain accurate and organized digital and physical records
  • Support the Planning team with general administrative tasks and special projects
Requirements

What We're Looking For:
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in administrative or office support (government or planning experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn planning software (e.g., Municity)
