Job Overview: APTIM is looking for a Scientist / Admin Assistant to join our team of engineers, scientist, and technicians who are passionately committed to safely solving our clients environmental and engineering concerns. The qualified candidate will be a hands-on scientist who is dedicated to completing assigned tasks with precision and accuracy. This is a professional position providing support for a range of environmental and infrastructure projects funded by private and government clients. The scientist will also perform a variety of office management work which includes assisting the program managers with administrative tasks, ordering office supplies and maintaining project records.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Organize and interpret engineering data to prepare clear and concise engineering reports and technical documentation.
- Assist in obtaining State and Federal project permits and perform permit compliance.
- Assist in preparing project construction plans and specifications.
- Communicate with co-workers, clients and the public in a professional manner including in a meeting or presentation.
- Work activities support various aspects of environmental projects that may include preliminary environmental document preparation, environmental permitting (Coastal Use Permits)
- Conducting site visits and attending progress meetings, preparation of comprehensive and technical reports for clients
- Use of GIS software to map and analyze project areas and collect field data.
- Candidate will work closely with Project Managers in implementing project tasks to meet client objectives and priorities.
- Candidate must be flexible and able to support multiple projects as needed.
- Candidate will be expected to apply technical skills and knowledge to complete the assigned work and will be expected to manage his/her own time to meet deadlines set by others.
- Candidate will maintain administrative responsibilities on behalf of lead Operations Manager.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- 0-3 years related experience
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with using ArcGIS software preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Publisher
- Knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations preferred.
- Possess strong technical and analytical skills.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written English.
- Have a passion for working in a consulting firm
- Self-motivated, hard-worker capable of working both independently and in a team setting.
- Desire to gain knowledge and experience and advance career.
- Ability to legally work in the United States
