Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues.

Position Summary:

This posting is for a Administrative Support Specialist temporary position. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Administrative Support Specialist will complete administrative tasks for the Academic and Student Affairs teams with the School of Social Work. This position will administratively support the MSW program directors, fixed-term faculty, and other key team members.

Responsibilities include following program policies and procedures and using software and systems, managing communication, preparing, filing, and maintaining records and documents, ordering supplies and overseeing the office and operational needs, inputting data accurately to maintain databases and spreadsheets, completing financial processing, and providing excellent customer service and support. In addition, the Administrative Support Specialist may help with event planning by serving as the point persons for planning, logistics, and implementation of all Academic and Student Affairs events and other SSW events as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Must possess strong organizational, planning, and analytical abilities as well as demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with excellent interpersonal skills. Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office, including proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and TEAMS.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Administrative experience in higher education is preferred as well as the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and prospective students.
