Position Summary

Job Description:
The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching introductory and intermediate production courses in the Film and Media Arts program. These courses guide students in the creation of short narrative films and introduce them to industry practices as they pertain to the planning, filming, editing, and production of narrative films. Possible courses include:

Introduction to Film Production I and IIIntermediate Film ProductionIntroduction to Video ProductionIntroduction to Digital Video EditingOutcome:
Hiring of one or two qualified part-time faculty to teach film production.
Essential Functions
  • Teach introductory and intermediate courses in the Film and Media Arts major
  • Experience and Education Required

    The candidate should have at least a Bachelor's degree in Film or a related field and/or significant professional experience in the film industry as a director, producer, cinematographer, or other high-level crew member. A knowledge of and expertise in the production of narrative films, especially short films, is essential.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    The successful candidate will possess a firm grasp of screenwriting and cinematic storytelling, film set culture, and film crew roles and responsibilities, as well as the equipment and techniques necessary to light, shoot, edit, and mix narrative films. The candidate should also be willing to work with and mentor students, honing the skills and developing the experience needed to enter the film industry.
