The PTA
Program adjunct faculty provides instruction in didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical settings, ensuring that content is current, evidence-based, and aligned with program and CAPTE accreditation standards. The adjunct faculty collaborates with the Program Director, full-time faculty, clinical partners, and the Division Dean to support student learning, skill development, and professional growth.

- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in assigned PTA courses, including lectures, labs, and clinical education.
- Evaluate and assess student performance through exams, practical assessments, clinical evaluations, and assignments.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on their progress, skills, and professionalism.
- Incorporate contemporary physical therapy practices and current educational technologies into instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress in accordance with program and college policies.
- Foster an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that supports diverse learners.
- Collaborate with program faculty and staff to maintain program integrity, quality, and compliance with CAPTE (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education) standards.
- Support students during clinical rotations, including liaison communication with clinical instructors as needed.
- Participate in faculty meetings, training, and professional development activities as appropriate.
- Comply with college policies, FERPA regulations, and program-specific guidelines.
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities;
- Punctual communication with students, faculty, staff and program and division administrators;
- Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading;
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested;
- Teach assigned courses in appropriate disciplines in accordance with College catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines; and
- Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Has an unencumbered WA state license as a Physical Therapist (PT) or an unencumbered certification/license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program; Has a minimum of a master's degree as a PT or PTA with a Bachelor's degree.Has a minimum of five years (or equivalent), full-time, post licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience within the United States jurisdiction. Preferred QualificationOne year teaching or didactive experience.Have experience with accreditation standards (CAPTE).Experience with curriculum development and Canvas LMS.Experience working in a community college.Additional Information

Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Applying does not guarantee that a position will be available or offered.Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire, Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement.
