Position Title: AWS Certified Adjunct Faculty
Department: Academics

Reports to: Computer Science
Department Director SummaryAn AWS-certified professional to impart knowledge of AWS & basic computer science including theory, practical skills, methods, and techniques to students. Professor will teach AWS courses in areas such as Foundations of Computing for the Cloud, Cloud System Architecture, Data Storage & Management for Cloud Computing, SysOps in the Cloud, and/or Software Development in the Cloud. Other aspects of teaching include; supervision of instructional activities, curriculum and course development; and creation of teaching and instructional materials.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeach one or more classes per trimester of Computer Science & EngineeringInteract and support our student's success in classes, careers, and academic progress.Collaborate with Department Director and Faculty in curriculum implementation, student support, and continuous program improvementEnsure curriculum and syllabi are up to date and all classes have relevant materials for a degree programMaintain regular office hours outside of instructional timeParticipate in department meetings and student success initiativesParticipate in course and program learning assessmentMaintain industry knowledgeOther duties and related projects as assignedMaintain teaching and learning skills by attending faculty development sessions and eventsQualifications
Certifications:At least or more of the following AWS certificates are required:- AWS Solutions Architect Certificate
- AWS SysOps Administrator Certificate
- AWS Developer Certificate
- AWS Big Data Certificate
- AWS Cloud Practitioner Certificate
Education: Master's Degree in a Related Field OR Bachelor's Degree with years of experience in the field. A bachelor's degree is only acceptable with industry experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working at a professional level with practical domain-specific experience.Teaching experience in an academic or professional setting is preferred.Skills: Ability to work with and help students succeed in the coursesKnowledge of Canvas Learning Management Systems (LMS)Strong technology skills in teaching and learning.Ability to collect and analyze informationCompetent in a wide variety of tools, techniques, and methods related to their field.Demonstrated excellent communication skills.Ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultures and backgroundsAbility to work with others in a collegial and productive manner.EEO Statement
