Addiction Medicine Physician

Coverage Needed:

• May 5 - November 21, 2025
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
• No call
• 4 days per week onsite minimum
• 1 day potential remote coverage

Clinical Details:

• Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with substance use disorders
• Provide ongoing medical care, including medication management, counseling, and crisis intervention
• Conduct in-person and telemedicine evaluations
• Perform periodic medication management and monitoring visits
• Educate patients and families on addiction and preventive practices
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and screening evaluations
• EMR: Athena
• Up to 16 patients a day, 60 minute initial visit, 30 minute follow ups
• Support Staff: 3 patient care coordinators, medical assistant

Requirements:

• MD or DO graduate of an accredited School of Medicine
• Active NC License with full prescription privileges, including a valid DEA license
• Certification by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) or American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM)
• Preference for psychiatry, but open to IM/FM
• Experience in diagnosing and treating addiction and substance use disorders
  • Understanding of co-occurring mental health conditions
• Familiarity with current addiction medicine practices and evidence-based treatments, and the integration of mental health care into addiction treatment plans
