We are looking for someone to work every other weekend 9am-5pm, along with 2-3 days during the week from 3pm-6pm. Flexible scheduling.
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our nursing home and long-term care facility. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents of Golden Age Manor, by organizing and facilitating engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being. This position requires strong communication skills and a passion for working with individuals with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.
Responsibilities - Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing daily activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Facilitate group and individual activities that promote socialization and engagement among residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents to understand their preferences and encourage participation.
- Support memory care programs by providing specialized activities that cater to cognitive needs.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants during activities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure that all activities align with the health and wellness goals of residents.
- Manage schedules for events and ensure all necessary materials are prepared in advance.
- Document participation levels and feedback from residents to continuously improve activity offerings.
Qualifications - Previous experience in caregiving, senior care, or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with residents and staff.
- Ability to assist in event planning and manage schedules efficiently.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of seniors.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on resident needs and preferences.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.

Qualifications Education/Experience & Certificates/Licenses/Registrations - Required: High School Diploma.
- One or more years of training and/or experience in the field of activities in a nursing home setting or equivalent experience is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of directing group activity.
- Considerable knowledge of the social, psychological and recreational needs of the aged and disabled.
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete records and make clear and detailed reports.
ALL Benefits are PRO-RATED based on Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) level. For example, a .80 FTE based on a 37.5 hour week would typically work 30 hours per week. Therefore, each of the Day (Equivalent) listed below would have a value of 6 hours.
PTO hours are accrued hourly per pay period
Extended Leave Accrual at the rate of five (5) days annually (cap 20 days)
Holidays Nine (9) paid holidays per year
(Employees working on holidays, in addition to holiday pay, are paid at over-time rate - 1 times regular rate of pay)
Short-term Disability 66 2/3% weekly wages from days 30-89, at NO cost to employee
Term Life Insurance One (1) times annual salary at no cost to employee
Supplemental Life available for employee, spouse, & children
Retirement - Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS)
2023 rates for employees: 6.8%
