Please note this is not a University of Portland Student Employment position. This position will be hired and paid by Pacific International Academy, a current campus partner.

Purpose of Position
The Activities Coordinator/Office Assistant (ACOA) is primarily responsible for the planning and implementation of social and educational activities for international students. The ACOA also contributes to all areas of PIA's student services, including housing, airport transfers, orientations, and general student support.
Core Duties
• Interact and engage with students throughout the school day
• Plan, coordinate, and lead events for students
• Gather media, create content, and publish appropriate post to the school's social media outlets
• Coordinate with clubs and offices on campus to promote student engagement
• Work with ISS and various clubs on campus to plan and promote student engagement on campus
• Provide support for students with culture, language, or social difficulties
• Provide office support such as updating files, printing materials, or taking notes in meetings
• Assist with airport/ pick-ups and drop-offs as necessary
• Make reservations and other arrangements for the implementation of activities and other student services operations
• Contribute to the development of services policies, guidelines, and informational tools
• Support student services operations, including, orientation, and activities
• Assist with driving students as needed, such as for appointments, airport transfers, and activities, including driving a 15-passenger van

• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills; strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to effectively communicate with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with students and stakeholders
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
• Cultural competency and empathy
• Competence with Microsoft Office suite and cloud computing
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to organize information and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Demonstrated experience organizing and executing events
• Experience with cross-cultural communication, experience with international students preferred
Physical Requirements
• Effectively communicate on a daily basis
• Work for extended periods at a computer workstation
• Attend meetings in various locations across campus
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
