DescriptionPosition Requirements: - Bachelor Degree or some college preferred.
- Recent experience in a geriatric activities setting or nursing home preferred.
- Certification as an Activities Professional as defined by state and federal regulation preferred.
- Willing to function as a team member with a genuine desire to work with a geriatric population.
- Previous dementia training and experience preferred.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities: Assists with developing an activities program which is congruent with residents' needs and interests at ABP and TS. Suggests appropriate functions. Conducts all activities unless directed otherwise.
Maintains compliance with all aspects of federal, state, local, and facility regulations, including safety of residents and staff.
Assists in executing duties as needed for each activity program within VHC. For example: computer work which includes activity calendars, newsletter articles, resident lists, mail lists.
Maintains regular progress and follow-up notes indicating responses to plan of care, outcomes and adjustment, reporting any changes or irregularities of a resident's behavior, health, interest needs, or performance in an activity to the Director of Activities, as requested.
Participates in in-service education programs as mandated by state and facility guidelines.
Maintains contact with residents through supportive visits.
Provides appropriate information to resident and family regarding Pavilion & Sylvestery activities and special programs. Assists in transporting residents to and from activities.
Willing to work evening and/or weekends as requested or required.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the resident activity programs and modifies the program as necessary.
Preserves a clean/safe environment for residents. Is pleasant, respectful, and courteous in all interactions with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
Utilizes Universal Precautions and all relevant protocols in the care of all residents. Observes all policies and procedures currently in effect, including fire and safety programs.
Ability to oversee/supervise volunteers
Maintain compliant Documentation to include resident attendance records incorporating,1:1 visits with outcomes stated
Assists in maintaining adequate Par Levels of routine supplies by notifying director when reorder is needed
Maintain equipment and supplies in a neat, organized manner in good working order.
Use of good time management strategies to complete daily assigned tasks, start activities timely to facilitate activities schedule
Deliver mail timely, unopened unless resident requests assistance to read.
Decorate and post notices on units and throughout building per need.
Post and review monthly calendars with residents
Adopts and adapts to new technologies.
Maintains residents' rights and confidentiality at all times.
Performs other duties as required.
