As an Activities Assistant at Silverfern North, an independent senior living community, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a wide range of activities and events to enhance the well-being and quality of life for our residents. Your role is to create a vibrant and engaging social atmosphere that fosters positive interactions, active participation, and overall happiness within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Activities & Engagement:
  • Collaborate with the Activities Director to plan and organize a variety of social, recreational, and cultural activities suitable for seniors.
  • Actively engage with residents to identify their interests, preferences, and needs.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities and promote a sense of community.
  • Lead, facilitate, or assist with the execution of activities, including but not limited to arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, educational workshops, and outings.
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to residents during activities.
  • Help plan and implement themed decorations and settings for special events and holidays.
  • Create a festive and inviting atmosphere for celebrations.
  • Maintain an inventory of activity materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure all necessary materials are readily available for each activity.
  • Outings and Excursions:
  • Assist in organizing trips and outings to local attractions, events, and scenic destinations.
  • Ensure resident safety and comfort during off-site excursions.
  • Communication:
  • Communicate regularly with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming activities and events.
  • Gather and address resident feedback and suggestions for future activities.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or coursework in recreation, hospitality, or gerontology is a plus.
  • Previous experience as an activities assistant in a senior living, hospitality, or recreational setting is preferred.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and compassionate nature.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs and abilities of diverse residents.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
