Job DetailsKey Responsibilities
Generate and record invoices for clients and funding partners based on finalized project agreements.
Review and integrate confirmed customer billings from Salesforce into the General Ledger (Navision/Business Central).
Accurately apply received payments to corresponding invoices.
Conduct monthly revenue recognition for all project contracts and grant agreements.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in project accounts and billings.
Ensure and document client and funder compliance with financial terms of project contracts.
Navigate records and data management systems to address inquiries and requests.
Set up and maintain comprehensive finance project files, ensuring accuracy in project budgets within Navision/Business Central.
Manage collections and collaborate with other departments to ensure timely invoice payments.
Prepare and distribute monthly customer aging reports to internal stakeholders.
Generate monthly reports detailing project budget variances.
Oversee all aspects of revenue accounting in the general ledger, including cash receipts, invoicing, contingent accounts receivable, revenue recognition, rebate accounting, and reconciliation of revenue and related project expense accounts.
Participate in month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and preparation of journal entries.
Support project managers in reconciling project expenses and resolving cost or invoice discrepancies.
Maintain a robust internal control environment over cash receipts, accounts receivable, and revenue project profit and loss statements.
Analyze and report on project outcomes.
Assist in preparing information and reconciliations for annual audits.
Perform additional department-related duties as assigned.
Meet strict deadlines during peak periods.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, with four (4) years of relevant experience, or demonstrated ability to perform the listed functions.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including revenue recognition principles, and the ability to research accounting issues.
Familiarity with nonprofit and project accounting, including contract review.
Experience with audits and compliance, including working with external auditors and preparing audit documentation.
Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to perform complex functions.
Ability to navigate records and data management systems to resolve inquiries and requests.
Proficiency with nonprofit accounting software.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines during audit and reporting cycles.
Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial team members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, along with strong interpersonal skills.
High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential and financial information.
Willingness to work in the office three days a week after the initial training period.
Public accounting or in-house firm experience; CPA certification is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or in-house firm experience.
Familiarity with Navision/Business Central accounting system.
Experience with Salesforce.
