Title: Project Accounting Specialist
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Annual Salary: $65,000 to $85,000 - DOE

Presently, Cornerstone is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Accounting Specialist.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Project Accounting Specialist is a NON-EXEMPT position that assists with accounting and project management administrative duties. This position oversees and performs administrative functions concerned with a project and assists with contract compliance and cost control.
Duties/Responsibilities
ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger (GL) entries in accordance with AICPA or GAAP standards
- Support accounts payable, including invoice entry, approvals, payment processing, and vendor communications
- Assist with customer invoicing and owner billings by preparing draft invoices and ensuring accuracy in billing documents
- Review subcontractor and supplier invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract terms
- Process and apply project-related cash receipts and customer payments
- Prepare subcontractor pay application templates and distribute with detailed instructions
- Review weekly payroll batches for accuracy, completeness, and internal control adherence
- Support payroll processing activities, including timesheet verification, certified payroll preparation, and union reporting
- Assist with weekly and monthly accounting close procedures
- Support the CGC Accounting Manager and Controller in various ad-hoc reporting, audits, and reconciliations
- Cross-train with accounting technician and accounts payable team; provide backup support as needed
CONSTRUCTION PROJECT SUPPORT
- Provide direct administrative and accounting support to project managers across multiple active jobs
- Create and maintain project job cost budgets, cost codes, and administrative data entries in Sage Intacct or related systems
- Review and help finalize contracts prior to execution; enter subcontract commitments and change orders
- Maintain and track subcontractor compliance documents (e.g., COIs, licenses, W-9s, bonding, and insurance)
- Order and manage project-specific insurance certificates, builder's risk coverage, and related documentation
- Assist with the administration of project union agreements and certified payroll reporting
- Prepare and distribute monthly Job Status Reports and Project Forecast templates
- Attend and contribute to project review meetings; maintain organized digital and physical project files
- Provide additional ad-hoc support to the accounting and project operations teams as requested

- Ability to apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to complex situations and positively affect overall outcomes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread own work
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to include Teams
Education and Experience
- REQUIREDAssociate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or General Studies; may substitute experience for education
- 2 years of construction industry or project management specialist related experience
- 2 years of accounting experience
- 2 years experience with Sage Intacct, Stampli, Miter, Procore, or similar software
- PREFERREDBachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance; may substitute experience for education
- 3+ years of construction industry or project management specialist related experience
- 3+ years accounting experience
- 3+ years experience with Sage Intacct, Stampli, Miter, Procore, or similar software
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to drive and pick up supplies and other items as needed
