Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will oversee key financial operations, including Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts and Revenue, Payroll, 403B, and Month-End Closing processes. This role requires a detail-oriented leader who can manage and streamline financial workflows while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Accounting Manager will also play a vital role in financial reporting and analysis.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES Payroll
  1. Process and review payroll on a bi-weekly basis for transmittal to payroll service
  2. Prepare corresponding payroll journal entry
  3. Follow-up with staff on outstanding timesheets
  4. Review timesheets for errors and make any necessary corrections
  5. Respond to any staff questions regarding timesheets or pay stubs and withholding
  6. Prepare and submit 403(b) contributions
  7. Reconcile the Quarterly Form 941 to the General Ledger
Cash/Revenue
  1. Perform monthly bank account reconciliations
  2. Perform grants receivable reconciliation
  3. Enter cash receipts and revenue journal entries; reconcile Accounts Receivable; prepare reports for management and development
Accounts Payable
  1. Review all Accounts Payable transactions prepared by the Staff Accountant
  2. Review corporate credit card journal entries and supporting documentation prepared by the Staff Accountant on a monthly basis
  3. Serve as a backup for the Staff Accountant
  4. Assist Staff Accountant with 1099 filing
Monthly End Close/Financial Reports
  1. Perform various month end allocations
  2. Prepare and enter all month-end journal entries
  3. Perform various account reconciliations and work to resolve any discrepancies
  4. Assist Controller with audit preparation and preparing Form 990
  5. Assist Controller with annual budget process, tools, reporting, etc.
  6. Other duties/Special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
  2. Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards
  3. 3-5 years of experience in non-profit accounting
  4. 2 years or more experience as a senior accountant
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  6. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  7. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency in Great Plains/Solomon is a plus
  8. Experience with ERP implementation is a plus
  9. Experience with FRx Financial Report Writer preferred
  10. Knowledge of ADP platforms preferred
  11. Excellent analytical, problem solving skills
  12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Work Schedule

The work/life balance of employees is a priority for the Bipartisan Policy Center. As a result, BPC is currently operating on a hybrid schedule. Employees at BPC are currently coming into the office three times a week. Exact time and schedules will be determined between an employee and their manager.

BPC offers comprehensive health insurance benefits with a choice of open access HMO, POS, or PPO plan. HMO and POS individual plans have a monthly premium cost share of 10%. Dependent and Family HMO and POS plans are offered with a monthly cost share equal to 20% of the difference between the plan premium and the individual HMO monthly premium. PPO plans are offered with a 20% premium cost-share for all plans.

Additional benefits include 403(b) matching contributions of up to 7% of salary in addition to a non-elective contribution of 2% of salary (both after 90 days of employment); 15 vacation days, 2 personal days, 15 sick days, and 12 holidays per year; education benefits up to $5,250 per year after one year of employment; $2,000 for professional development expenses after six months of employment; Metro benefits of up to $130 per month; Company provided life insurance; and dental and vision insurance coverage with a Flexible Spending Plan.

We reasonably believe that the base salary range for the Accounting Manager is $115,000 - $140,000. At BPC, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
