About the Company and Opportunity:
- Our client is a nonprofit organization who has served the DC area for over 50 years. Their mission is to support and inspire Washington, DC's low-income residents on their journey to self-sufficiency and success.
- Due to upcoming year end, they are hiring an Accounting Manager to work in their office in Washington, DC and oversee their day to day accounting.
- This position is 100% in office in DC.
- This position will begin on a contractual basis but depending on performance and fit could become permanent.
- Schedule: 8:45-5:30 M-F

Duties of the Role:
- Leads accounting department and coordinates monthly close activities, including balance sheet account reconciliation, book accounting entries, timely revenue recognition, and accounts analysis
- Analyzes internal controls and updates policies and procedures as necessary
- Act as point of contact and oversee annual audit processes and tax reporting
- Generates monthly financial and weekly cash management reports, including ad hoc analyses; standard KPI reports, and other reports as needed
- Develops and administers training for lower level accounting staff as well as cross-training on other department functions
- Serves as back up for Accounts Payable Supervisor and Payroll Accountant through cross-functional responsibilities
- Performs annual performance review for Senior Accountants
- Identifies opportunities for streamlining/enhancing existing processes, and automation.
- Performs relevant assessments, evaluations, research, and other duties as directed.
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Admin or related field required, Masters in Accounting and/or CPA a plus
- 6+ years of accounting experience required
- Grant funded non profit experience a huge plus.
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Strong working knowledge of budgeting, financial forecasting, and trend analysis
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics SL a plus
