Accounting Manager (Non-Profit Organization - St. Louis, MO, Hybrid)

What You'll Do
•  Compile and deliver financial reports, including consolidated statements for leadership and external stakeholders, as well as monthly summaries for department heads.
•  Oversee and verify financial transactions prepared by the accounting team, such as reconciliations, journal entries, investment activity, donor contributions, and payroll processing.
•  Track expenditures tied to grant funding, ensuring compliance with spending guidelines and proactively communicating any budget concerns to management.
•  Manage the grant invoicing process, confirm expense eligibility, and maintain accurate records of grant-related financial activities. Collaborate with compliance and reporting teams to fulfill audit and funding requirements.
•  Assist with the development of annual financial plans, including organizational, departmental, and grant-specific budgets.
•  Approve and oversee recurring payment cycles, including scheduled subsidy distributions.
•  Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on key performance metrics and operational data.
•  Establish and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company resources, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
•  Identify areas for process improvement within financial reporting and operational workflows, proposing and implementing efficiencies where needed.
•  Conduct financial assessments to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure adherence to budget constraints.
•  Prepare and review documentation required for audits, including financial statements and compliance reports associated with regulatory filings and funding agreements.
•  Coordinate the submission of required state and federal financial documents, including tax-related filings.
•  Lead and support accounting personnel, providing oversight, mentorship, and performance management.
•  Collaborate with leadership to manage reporting obligations related to structured financing, funding programs, and compliance with lending and subsidy agreements.
•  Facilitate the preparation and submission of financial documentation for government-backed housing and funding programs, including contract renewals, budget adjustments, and required certifications.
What You Bring to the Table
•  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
•  5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit, real estate, or public accounting.
•  Strong knowledge of GAAP and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
•  Proven leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments and guide accounting staff.
