Job Details

Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the accounting function across all business entities. This includes key areas such as revenue, returns, project accounting, margin analysis, intercompany transactions, cost accounting, inventory reporting and analysis, and physical inventory oversight. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership over the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, including billing, collections, agency commissions, and cash applications.

This individual will be accountable for both personal deliverables during month-end close and the review and approval of month-end activities completed by direct reports. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who leads by example, enforces deadlines, and demonstrates a strong command of Excel, Power Query, and system-based process improvement.

Primary Functions
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close

Team Leadership: Cost Accounting, Revenue Accounting, AP & AR

Special Projects: System Enhancements, Report Development, and Process Improvements

Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial analyses to track trends and variances in costs, revenues, returns, margins, and other P&L items

Lead and ensure timely, accurate processing of AR and AP functions, including billing, payments, inventory receipts, and cash applications

Monitor and improve collections efforts; provide recommendations on delinquent accounts

Calculate accrued and deferred revenue, and analyze quoted vs. actual margin variances

Collaborate cross-functionally to support business operations and identify areas for process improvement

Manage the finance team's role in preparing for and organizing the annual physical inventory audits across all entities

Analyze inventory and capital expenditure accounts and recommend necessary adjustments

Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accurate financial reporting

Develop and provide management reporting and ad hoc financial analysis as requested

Take ownership of specific accounting processes, including journal entries, accruals, and month-end close activities

Provide day-to-day support and mentorship to staff, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards

Adapt to new systems and contribute to implementation efforts across departments

Assist in system/reporting enhancements by partnering with consultants and IT

Support audit preparation by assembling schedules and PBC documentation

Collaborate and cross-train with the Senior Accountant

Occasional travel may be required

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

5-7 years of post-graduate accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

Proven supervisory or team leadership experience

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office

Experience with Sage 300 or Sage 100 is required

Familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, and Excel Macros is a plus

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and deadline-management skills

Demonstrated initiative in process improvement and operational efficiency
