We are partnering with a rapidly growing, PE-backed construction company searching for an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting team. The company is headquartered in the Greenville area. In this role, you will oversee all accounting functions such as month-end closing, financial reporting, project costing, and managing the accounting personnel. You will also oversee financial operations including financial planning and analysis (FP&A), cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and partnering with leadership on strategic decision-making.

This is a fully onsite role based in Greer, SC. Construction accounting/Percentage-of-Completion experience required.


Essential Duties & Functions

  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable processes and ensure integrity of general ledger maintenance.
  • Monitor daily cash flow, review disbursements, and provide proactive cash projections to executive leadership.
  • Further build out reporting in the accounting system (SAGE Intacct).
  • Manage timely and accurate month-end close activities.
  • Maintain and document accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and analyze accurate month-end financial reports reflecting monthly, quarterly, budget-to-actuals and year-to-date results.
  • Provide verbal and written analysis of the actual results compared to budget/forecast, recommending and facilitating business decisions to improve results.
  • Analyze overhead costs, understand and communicate trends.
  • Analyze project job costs and ensure accurate accounting.
  • Create and maintain an annual budget and quarterly forecasts in collaboration with the management team.
  • Review daily/weekly cash requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecast.
  • Ensure accounts are properly funded across legal entities daily.
  • Consult with external CPA monthly and manage the annual audit.
  • Ensure tax compliance and regulatory reporting in partnership with external CPA (including timely income, sales tax filings & 941's).
  • Coordinate the financial statement review or audit, as appropriate.
  • Hire, train, and retain accounting and finance staff.
  • Assess accounting operations and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with additional projects as needed.
  • Complete other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GAAP and construction-specific accounting principles (including WIP schedules and job cost accounting).
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; 5-7 years of experience
  • Advanced Excel skills required, including experience with functions such as building financial models, data analysis, charting, and in-depth financial forecasting
  • Strong work ethic and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including collaboration and communication
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
