Job Opportunity: Manager - Corporate Accounting
Location: Downers Grove, IL (Hybrid)
Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000 (Plus Bonus Potential)
Our client is looking for a dynamic Manager - Corporate Accounting to join their team. This position offers great visibility within the organization and the opportunity to make a significant impact across global business units.
As a Manager - Corporate Accounting, you'll oversee a team of Senior Accountants and a shared services team while collaborating with other departments like SEC Reporting & Global Consolidations, Financial Systems & Transformation, Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, IT/Digital, Legal, and Human Resources. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement and process optimization within the accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Corporate Accounting team, including two Senior Accountants and 10+ staff in the shared services accounting team.
- Oversee the month-end closing for the Corporate office and domestic holding companies, managing functions such as insurance, debt, pension, fixed assets, legal reserves, cash, payroll, and intercompany allocations.
- Review and approve journal entries and general ledger reconciliations prepared by Senior Accountants and shared services teams.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance processes and leverage the shared services model.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, including quarterly financial results and key fluctuations.
- Collaborate on pension reporting and accounting, working with third-party actuaries on impact to consolidated financials.
- Interface with auditors during reviews and audits, ensuring internal controls and compliance are met.
- Support cross-functional projects and ad-hoc requests from various departments.
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:
- 7+ years of accounting experience with a demonstrated track record of managing teams.
- A strong foundation in accounting with an undergraduate degree and CPA certification preferred.
- Previous experience in large public accounting firms is highly desirable.
- In-depth understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, analysis, and SOX compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with senior management.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Experience working with or managing shared service teams is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word. Familiarity with Oracle and OneStream is a plus.
