Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the financial reporting, fund accounting, and operational accounting for their private equity investments. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in public accounting, as well as experience in private equity, venture capital, or asset management. This role requires a detail-oriented, strategic thinker who can optimize financial processes, ensure compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Oversee the preparation of financial statements, investor reports, and quarterly performance reports in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Fund Accounting: Manage the accounting for investment funds, capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead the general ledger reconciliation, accruals, and financial close process for private equity funds and management companies.
  • Investor Relations Support: Provide financial data and analysis that will be used for LP reports, capital account statements, and fund performance metrics.
  • Tax & Audit Coordination: Work closely with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure compliance with tax filings, K-1s, and annual audits.
  • Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Provide information that will be used for capital calls, fund liquidity, distributions, and banking relationships.
  • Process Improvement: Implement best practices in financial operations, internal controls, and accounting policies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to SEC, IRS, and other private equity industry regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring professional development and alignment with company goals.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with an active CPA
  • Experience: 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in private equity, venture capital, or investment management, and a foundation in public accounting
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, financial reporting, and tax regulations for private equity funds.
  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to interpret financial data, and keen attention to detail.
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
