Accounting Manager


About the Company and the Accounting Manager Position:

This respected manufacturing company in Akron is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead and manage its day-to-day financial operations. As the Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and helping the team achieve greater business efficiency and success.


Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager:

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Lead the reconciliation of operating and payroll bank accounts to the general ledger
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper financial documentation
  • Manage financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Prepare detailed financial schedules and reports for audits and inquiries
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management for decision-making
  • Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and systems
  • Assist with payroll functions and ensure accuracy in payroll processing
  • Manage and track fixed assets and capital expenditures


Preferred Qualifications of the Accounting Manager:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas
  • CPA is a plus
  • Public accounting experience is required
  • Strong communication and leadership skills


Salary and Benefits:

  • In-office in Akron, Ohio
  • Pay range: $85,000 to $100,000
