Job DetailsFollowing established procedures and under the direction of the CFO, responsible for maintaining and improving the operational efficiency of the accounting department. Ensures financial reporting accuracy in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements. Executes change and supports automation when necessary. Enhances the timeliness and quality of work product, enabling the accounting department to support the bank's growth.
Responsibilities:
- Manages accounting operations, encompassing accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, loan accounting, general ledger management, and the month-end close process.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including the preparation and submission of tax filings.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements process improvements to streamline accounting functions.
- Develops, documents, and maintains accounting policies and internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Leads internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
- Mentors and develops accounting staff, providing training and professional growth opportunities to build a high-performing team.
- Stays current with changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices to maintain compliance and drive innovation
- Remains informed about banking products, services, procedures, recent developments, and competitive offerings. Collaborates with various departments to achieve banking objectives, gather and analyze data, and optimize processes.
- Demonstrates proficiency and ability in core competencies as required for the position. Actively pursues opportunities to expand skills and expertise through training, seminars, and professional networking. Supports banking goals and objectives and actively participates in training sessions and special promotions.
- All other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of two years of management experience
- Experience in the financial industry is preferred.
