Position Summary:
The Accounting Analyst will play a key role in both core accounting functions and forward-looking financial planning & analysis (FP&A) activities. This hybrid position is ideal for candidates coming from a public accounting background who are looking to leverage their technical expertise while expanding into strategic finance in a fast-paced real estate environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting (60%)
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger analysis.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes for corporate and property-level entities.
- Support audits and tax compliance by preparing workpapers and liaising with external auditors.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and controls.
- Monitor intercompany transactions and reconcile balances across legal entities.
FP&A (40%)
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, reforecasts, and variance analysis for corporate and property operations.
- Provide analytical support for acquisitions, dispositions, and capital projects.
- Develop and enhance financial models to support forecasting, trend analysis, and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with asset management, development, and operations teams to understand business drivers and financial performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's or MBA a plus.
- 2-4 years of experience in accounting or audit; Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience strongly preferred.
- CPA licensed or actively pursuing CPA designation.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP; experience with real estate accounting (e.g., CAM, straight-lining, capital expenditures) is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and business acumen.
