Vaco is hiring for an Accountant opportunity in Pittsburgh PA. Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist/Accountant to manage payroll processing for approximately 150 employees while supporting key accounting functions. This role includes payroll administration, month-end close activities, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, process documentation, and General Ledger support. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll systems such as ADP or UKG (preferred but not required) and a strong understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:


  • Accurately process payroll for approximately 150 employees in a timely manner.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

  • Maintain payroll records, handle wage deductions, benefits, and garnishments.

  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and deductions.

Accounting & Month-End Close Support:


  • Assist in month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciling payroll-related accounts.

  • Support General Ledger reconciliations and financial reporting.

  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial transactions.

Accounts Payable & Financial Operations:


  • Process and verify accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely payments.

  • Assist with vendor management, payment processing, and invoice approvals.

  • Document and improve payroll and accounting processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).

  • Experience: 2+ years in payroll processing, accounting, or related roles.

  • Software Skills: Experience with payroll systems (ADP or UKG preferred) and accounting software.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, reconciliations, and General Ledger processes.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco notes the salary range for the role as follows: 70-85,000/yr. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
