Job Title: Accountant - Union Payroll & Benefits (California Carpentry Subcontractor)
Location: Remote (India)
Work hours will significantly overlap the New York and California Time Zone
We are seeking a
Remote Accountant with expertise in
union payroll and benefits accounting to support a
carpentry subcontractor in processing wages and ensuring compliance with union agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Union Payroll Processing: Manage and process payroll for union workers in compliance with California union regulations and agreements.
- Benefits & Deductions: Track, calculate, and reconcile union benefits, pension contributions, health insurance, and other deductions.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to prevailing wage laws, certified payroll reporting (Davis-Bacon Act), and California union labor laws.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices related to labor costs, track payments to workers and benefits providers.
- Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in payroll-related accounts.
- Financial Documentation: Maintain payroll records, generate reports, and assist in audits related to union labor costs.
- Software Management: Utilize QuickBooks, Yardi, or payroll software for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in union payroll accounting, preferably for construction subcontractors in California.
- Strong understanding of union wage structures, benefits, and prevailing wage laws.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar accounting software.
- Experience with certified payroll reporting (Davis-Bacon Act) and union benefits reconciliation.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
