Job Summary
The Small Business Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing cash flow, and supporting various administrative functions. This is a critical role that combines bookkeeping, financial management, and office administration, ideal for a proactive individual who thrives in a small business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Handle payroll processing and related tax filings
- Monitor and manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
- Coordinate with external CPA for tax preparation and year-end reporting
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
- Assist in costing and inventory accounting as needed
Administrative Support
- Oversee general office operations, vendor management, and purchasing support
- Maintain accurate records for insurance, licensing, and compliance documentation
- Support HR functions such as onboarding, employee records, and benefits administration
- Develop and improve internal processes and filing systems
- Liaise with company leadership to provide financial insights for decision-making
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small business or manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (or similar accounting software)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office applications
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- No formal degree required-experience and reliability matter most
