Job Summary:

The Construction Accountant will be responsible for managing financial processes specific to construction projects, including job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Yardi Voyager or Yardi Construction Management to streamline accounting tasks and ensure accurate financial tracking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Accounting: Perform job costing, track project budgets, and monitor expenses for multiple construction projects.
  • Yardi Utilization: Leverage Yardi software to manage accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and project financials.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance reports, and cash flow projections for project stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and lien waivers while ensuring compliance with contract terms.
  • Payroll Support: Collaborate with HR to manage construction-related payroll, including certified payroll reporting when required.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations, and construction-specific financial requirements.
  • Audit Preparation: Maintain accurate records and assist with internal and external audits.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, estimators, and finance teams to provide financial insights and support.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager or Yardi Construction Management.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Yardi software for job costing, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Procore) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications: CPA, CMA, or CCIFP certification is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with construction-specific accounting practices, including AIA billing, retainage, and lien waivers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with multi-state construction projects and tax compliance.
  • Knowledge of construction contract structures (e.g., lump sum, cost-plus, GMP).
  • Proficiency in integrating Yardi with other construction management tools.
