About the Company and Accountant Opportunity:
- Our repeat client is a large, well known non profit in the Baltimore area. They pride themselves on their community outreach and giving and wealth of diversity within the organization.
- Due to a special project, they are hiring an Accountant to work in their office in Baltimore, MD
- The Accountant position is a grant funded contractual role and will last until the end of December 2025 ( 9 month contract)
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 7:30am-4:30pm, 7.5 hour work day, M-F in Baltimore city. One week of training on site, then after training, company requires employees to be on site only 4x per month.

- Reports to the Assistant Vice President of Grants
- Ideal start date: April 7, 2025
- Salary: $70,000 - $76,000 depending on experience
Job Duties of the Accountant:
80% Grant Monitoring:
- Review the sub-grantee's fiscal reports according to the established protocols.
- Perform monitoring visits on all sub-grantees.
- Audit sub-grantees reimbursement request with the supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Ensure sub-grantee expenditure reflects the approved budget and comply with organization guidelines.
- Collaborate with the compliance and grants administrative teams to ensure sub-grantees are performing satisfactorily.
- Assist grantee with requested budget modifications and expense realignments.
- Ensure all sub-grantees are following the requirements of the grantors and donors.
- Foster a positive working relationship with internal and external grant partners.
10% Recordkeeping and Reporting: - Navigate all electronic systems to address funder and sub-grantee inquiries.
- Complete special reports for internal personnel.
- Prepare worksheets, schedules, reports and supporting documentation for grantor site visits.
- Ensure that all reporting requirements outlined by the grantor are prepared accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain an organized filing system for sub-grantee agreements and reports.
- Prepare analytical reports on sub-grantee expenditures to project funding surpluses and/or deficits.
- Assist the grants team in other related reporting requirements.
10% Other: - Establish and maintain effective communication with all levels of agency personnel, partner agencies, sub-grantees, vendors, clients, and volunteers.
- Participate in all assigned employee training sessions.
- Keep current with the Federal, State, and local agencies grant regulations.
- Research problems and make appropriate adjustments/recommendations to successfully resolve the issue.
Qualifications for the Accountant:
- 2+ years' accounting/finance experience. Understanding of grant reporting, expense data, expenditure reports and experience performing reconciliations required
- Nonprofit accounting experience and ability to interpret governmental regulations and compliance requirements
- Associates degree or higher in a related field a plus
- Experience using Oracle NetSuite accounting systems a plus, but not required
- Proficient Excel skills required (basic formulas, tracking expenditures for various entities)
- Strong communication skills, keen eye for detail, able to act as liaison between organization and subgrantees
- Good sense of humor, asks good questions, team player, open minded
