Account Manager

Job Summary: The Account Manager is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Delta Dental of Arkansas's clients and broker partners. This individual is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience, renewing and retaining clients, and ensuring account issues are resolved promptly. This Account Manager is responsible for achieving positive financial outcomes for their book of business, including renewal strategy and negotiation, and consulting with assigned clients to maximize their dental and vision plan performance.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Direct account management responsibility of assigned employer group clients.
    • Acts as the primary point of contact between the customer and internal teams to ensure exceptional customer experience.
    • Resolves issues for assigned clients timely and efficiently.
    • Effectively respond to verbal or written client inquiries on items such as rates, benefit plan design, and general information.
    • Trains customers how to use online eligibility and billing system.
    • Creates effective presentations and conducts impactful business reviews that help existing customers understand the value our products.
  • Responsible for the renewal and retention of assigned book of business.
    • Manage entire renewal cycle for assigned book of business including consultation with client partners, brokers and consultants.
    • Present, negotiate and explain renewal exhibits and rate information to enrolled groups, brokers and consultants.
  • Attends client benefit enrollment meetings.
  • Prepares reports for customers upon request and on a set cadence.
  • Responsible for assisting with the implementation of self-funded accounts.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with agents and clients.
  • Recommends product offerings to agents and clients based on their specific needs.
  • Responsible for cross-selling vision products to existing dental clients.
Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.

Minimum Qualifications:
Will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree with course work related to Marketing, Business, Insurance, Management, or related field. Two years' sales and/or account management experience, preferably in the health benefits industry. Life & Health License from the State of Arkansas, the ability to write reports, business correspondence, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, intermediate experience with spreadsheets, Word Processing; and PowerPoint presentations.

Education, Skills, Experience, and Personal Attributes Required
  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field and
  • Five years' sales and/or account management experience, preferably in the health benefits industry.
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain Arkansas Health Insurance license within 45 days of hire.
  • Intermediate experience with business analytics and spreadsheets, Word Processing and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various audiences.
  • Ability to work with clients and internal experts to ensure data security requirements are met.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, executive level presentation skills and respond to questions from client.
  • Attention to detail and deadlines, good organizational skills and high level of initiative.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks and work with a variety of team members to achieve department and individual goals.
  • Ability to remain poised and composed, yet firm, in difficult conversations with clients, brokers and consultants.

  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
