ATCC, a leading nonprofit biological resources and standards organization, is seeking an account manager with experience in life sciences, customer experience and sourcing new accounts to work primarily remote, and 1 day per week on-site in Manassas, VA or Gaithersburg, MD.
The Account Manager will be the primary point of contact for our valued clients, ensuring their satisfaction and retention. You'll address their needs, provide tailored solutions, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional products and services. You'll also identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling, contributing to our organization's growth and success. Potential for up to 10% travel. Local candidates highly preferred.

Responsibilities
- Sales and Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to sell products and services. Act as the main point of contact post-sale, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention. Provide support in customer journey and offer guidance on suitable products and services based on customer needs.
- Account Development and Management: Maintain key accounts and develop new accounts, referrals, and business from existing network. Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling to grow the business.
- Strategic Execution and Administration: Execute sales strategies, generate reports, and identify opportunities to increase sales volume while maintaining service levels. Ensure accuracy in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and stay updated on organizational products and services to provide immediate explanations when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years' experience or equivalent experience.
- Strong scientific background with sales, marketing, and business skills.
- Prior knowledge of biology or related science or previous experience in biotech or lifesciences is highly preferred.
- Strategic thinking, business instincts, creativity, and sound judgment.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, consensus-building, and influencing skills.
- Familiarity with sales concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Strategic problem-solving, exceptional communcation, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly adaptable and motivated team player with attention to detail.
Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
