Position Overview We're seeking a results-oriented
Account Manager with 3-5 years of experience in
Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)- with a proven track record of managing major retailers, preferably in the health and wellness product category. This role will manage and grow strategic relationships with key retail partners such as
Whole Foods, Sprouts, Meijer, and other regional or national mass market chains and accounts.
The ideal candidate is both analytical and relationship-driven, with a strong understanding of retail dynamics, promotional planning, and category management. Your primary goals will include increasing sell-in and sell-through, growing SKU assortments, improving in-store visibility and retail execution, and ensuring strategic alignment between retail partner needs and company objectives by nurturing relationships across tiers with our retail partners.
Key Responsibilities 1. Drive Order Value and Frequency - Increase the average size and cadence of retailer orders through strategic sales planning, product education, and consistent communication.
- Analyze POS and shipment data to identify patterns and propose reorder timelines tailored to each retailer's needs and seasonal promotions.
- Develop retailer-specific promotional calendars to boost reorders and align with key sales periods.
- Utilize sell-through performance metrics for reorder proposals and optimize SKU productivity.
2. Strengthen Retailer Relationships - Build and maintain strong partnerships with retail buyers and decision-makers, positioning Just Ingredients as a trusted and proactive partner.
- Conduct regular business reviews and performance check-ins to identify opportunities, resolve challenges, and align on growth strategies.
- Serve as the day-to-day liaison for retail partners, providing timely updates on new product launches, out-of-stocks, and promotional opportunities.
- Participate in trade shows, category reviews, and retailer planning meetings to advocate for brand growth.
3. Secure Premium In-Store Placements - Collaborate with retail partners to improve shelf placement and gain visibility through end caps, promotional displays, and secondary placements.
- Coordinate with merchandising teams or brokers to monitor in-store compliance and ensure execution matches promotional plans.
- Pitch in-store marketing programs and work to optimize Just Ingredients' visibility and footprint at the shelf.
- Track performance of in-store activations and provide feedback to improve future campaigns.
4. Expand Product Assortment - Encourage adoption of new SKUs and seasonal products, helping partners grow their offerings and sales potential with Just Ingredients.
- Present compelling sales decks and market data to support the inclusion of new SKUs during category reviews.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to educate retail partners on product features, health benefits, and unique selling points.
- Monitor competitive sets to identify gaps and recommend innovation opportunities aligned with retailer goals.
5. Tailor Strategy by Account Tier - Adjust communication, promotional cadence, and product strategy based on account tier (small, medium, large) and opportunity size.
- Develop strategic playbooks for each account tier, including KPI and marketing investment levels.
- Work with marketing to co-create retailer-specific promotional campaigns, sampling programs, or loyalty-building initiatives.
- Customize sales and forecasting strategies based on account potential, regional influence, and historical performance.
Inventory Forecasting Expectations Account Managers are expected to contribute to accurate inventory forecasting in collaboration with operations and supply chain teams. You will help ensure product availability aligns with planned promotions, retailer growth, and seasonal demand.
- Provide timely forecasts for promotional periods, new launches, and replenishment cycles.
- Communicate account-level insights that may affect inventory needs.
- Partner with internal teams to minimize stockouts and support efficient inventory turnover.
- Track sales lift from promotions and use findings to refine future inventory projections.
- Flag risk areas for inventory challenges and propose contingency plans in collaboration with supply chain stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills - 3-5 years in CPG Account Management, preferably in health, wellness, or natural grocery
- Proven experience managing national or regional accounts such as Sprouts, Whole Foods, Meijer, or similar retail stores.
- Strong understanding of retail sales cycles, promotional strategy and planning, category management, and sell-in/sell-through dynamics.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills
- Data-driven approach with the ability to analyze POS data, syndicated data (e.g., SPINS, IRI, Nielsen), and internal KPIs
- Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance
- Familiarity with retail portals, trade promotion tools, and forecasting software a plus
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple accounts in a fast-paced environment
