We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Outside Sales / Account Executive to join our team in the industrial sector, focusing on selling complex, high-value products to clients in heavy industries such as steel, aluminum, and paper/pulp. This position requires an individual with experience in outside sales, B2B industrial selling, and the ability to manage a flexible schedule and travel extensively to meet clients and close deals. As a member of a small, dynamic team, you will be responsible for driving sales, managing client relationships, and building a strong pipeline of business.

Team Size: Small team of 4-5 members (including admins, operations team, shipping/receiving)

Job Details

Job Title: Account Manager / Account Executive
Location: Remote (50-60% travel in your territory)
Work Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm (Flexible hours; target-driven with a focus on getting the job done)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage your own sales schedule, prioritizing client meetings and sales presentations
  • Present and pitch complex industrial products, including tension load cells, stressometers, and related equipment
  • Develop and deliver pitch decks, create quotes, and ensure contract negotiations lead to signed deals
  • Focus on custom sales in a highly competitive environment, targeting new business and competing against industry rivals
  • Sell products in the range of $2,000 to $200,000, including tension load cells, edge detection, width detection systems, and specialized equipment for steel, aluminum, and paper/pulp industries
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients while hunting for new opportunities, particularly in the Southern U.S.
  • Achieve annual sales quotas of $3.5 to $4 million
  • Collaborate with a small team, contributing to overall team sales of $12-15 million annually
  • Use Salesforce or similar CRM tools to track sales activities and manage leads

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in outside sales, particularly B2B industrial sales
  • Strong technical background in industrial sales, with a focus on products like tension load cells, edge detection, and similar industrial solutions
  • Ability to manage a sales pipeline, including prospecting, cold calling, and nurturing client relationships
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical products to clients
  • Ability to work independently, managing a flexible schedule and prioritizing client needs
  • Experience in selling to industries such as steel, aluminum, or paper/pulp is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of custom sales (selling against competition) as opposed to consumable sales
  • Sales experience in industries such as steel, aluminum, paper, or pulp is ideal
  • Engineering background (industrial, mechanical, or related) is a plus
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM software is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 60% and meet clients in-person frequently
  • Must be results-driven and comfortable with a high level of autonomy

Preferred Territories:
  • Danbury, CT (Northeast Territory): Primarily metal/steel, with some paper/pulp
  • Pittsburgh, PA (Northeast Territory): Primarily metal/steel, with some paper/pulp
  • Wisconsin (Midwest Territory): Primarily paper/pulp, with some steel/metal
