We are seeking an LA or NYC-based Account Director who has strong, established relationships with media and conference organizers, particularly within advertising/marketing, business of media, technology and the creator economy. The ideal candidate is a team player who excels at developing evergreen communication strategies including shaping compelling company narratives, crafting executive communications and profile building, and developing thought leadership platforms through speaking engagements and editorial opportunities.
The Account Director will be responsible for leading client accounts, initiatives, and communication strategies, while managing internal teams. This position requires 7+ years of applicable experience, either agency or in-house. This role is hands-on, requiring someone who can actively pitch media and secure high-impact speaking and editorial opportunities. This position requires excellent organizational skills, thoughtful collaboration, attention to detail, foresight and the ability to multitask and navigate through a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Able to lead client communication with no oversight, making strategic and outside-the-box recommendations that align with client goals to keep the account momentum going, including pivoting when hitting roadblocks as necessary.
- Maintain accounts and build client relationships, including proactively developing plans, tracking against client goals, keeping work within scope, and producing steady account work to keep the clients on fee and grow account scope when appropriate.
- Lead and direct high-level pitching and client storytelling that ladders back to the client's goals and brand messaging. Requires strong knowledge of and relationships with media contacts across core verticals.
- Draft written materials (or edit drafts by junior staff), including press releases, messaging architectures, strategic talking points and briefing sheets, PR plans, pitches, biographies, media materials and other client and company-related documents with little to no oversight.
- Manage and delegate to team members across accounts, with the potential to have direct reports. This role will serve as a mentor and a leader for junior staff to help them grow within the profession.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Metro company vision, values and structure, including the full range of company products, services and capabilities.
- Participate in the new business process, including proactive outreach, joining meetings, preparing decks and proposals, and helping close.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on skills and experience. This role is also eligible for commission.
Candidates should reside in either LA or NYC. Employees in the Los Angeles-area work in a hybrid arrangement, with the flexibility to work from home on many days, but the expectation to attend regular in-person obligations such as company-wide workdays, training and client events.
Metro's standard business hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, however, additional hours, including nights and weekends, may be necessary based on business needs. This is a full-time, exempt position, not eligible for overtime pay.
