JOB SUMMARY Oversees the locksmithing, key control, and security infrastructure at all UTA locations. Acts as Contract/Project Manager for the installation of the card access system, including readers, REXs, maglocks, strike latches, turnstiles, gates, gate exit loops and all associated components. Responsible for record keeping and documentation for key control and door numbering systems. Forging professional and productive relationships with our locksmith partners and UTAs security and safety personnel. Have a thorough understanding of our key coding system throughout UTAs many facilities. Administer correct locksmith equipment with the correct department and continually updating the key control coding system and floor plans for record keeping and auditing purposes. Coordinates with various departments to receive requests and update locksmith equipment as needed. This position requires assisting the facilities maintenance manager and/or security manager with additional duties as assigned. WORK SCHEDULE
  • 7:00 AM - 3:30 pm M-F with Saturday and Sunday off.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate in locksmithing from an accredited program preferred . EXPERIENCE: Minimum three (3) years experience in locksmithing and access control. Knowledge:
  • Good understanding of Card Access Systems.
    • Familiarity with basic hand tools. Operate computer for Inventory. Operate Key-cutting machines.
    • Basic level proficiency in MS Word and Outlook (basic level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint preferred).
Skills:
    • Disassemble door locks. Repair and replace worn tumblers, springs, pins, and other parts. Able to rekey/re-pin door locks.
    • Install and troubleshoot computer managed Access Control, Program PROX cards, Access Audits to identify theft or damage.
    • Handle commercial locks and lock mechanisms, and high security lock systems.
    • Service, replace, or install commercial locks and access control systems.
    • Adjust and repair related door closing and locking devices, including panic hardware.
    • Repair and replace security devices including locks, card readers, REXs, etc.
    • Install and repair door hardware, electronic and pneumatic closing fixtures, doors, frames, and all complete door hardware packages.
    • Perform installation, maintenance, and basic repairs on electronic security systems.
    • Service, door closers, panic hardware, handicap door openers, Trilogy and Simplex locks.
    • Install, service and repair, all types of commercial grade locks and exit devices.

Abilities: (UTA Competencies)

  • Obtain and maintain Roadway Worker Protection Certifications.
  • Perform the physical requirements of the job to include regular walking in a quick manner on uneven surfaces, floor to waist lifting, up to 25 lbs. regularly, reaching/lifting overhead up to 10 lbs., kneeling and working in tight spaces, and prolonged periods of sitting and standing.

  • Perform functions of the job in inclement weather situations.
