Academic Support Specialist

Full-time, 9 month, benefits-eligible, grant-funded, exempt, Instructional Specialist term position. The position is expected to last the duration of the grant. 2 Positions Available. 1 STEM, 1 MATH Salary: $35,000 per year. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in STEM or MATH field with at least 18 hours of biological sciences or Mathematics coursework preferred, but Bachelor's Degree accepted with consideration given for extensive college biological sciences coursework. At least a year of tutoring experience is preferred. Duties and Responsibilities: Tutor students in STEM or MATH content areas, particularly biology, including walk-ins or by appointment. Tutoring may take place online or on-campus, in either individual or group sessions. Participate in professional development activities. Keep records and collect data for assessment purposes. Communicate with faculty regarding student progress. Demonstrate all best academic practices and foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Participate in events and meetings that promote academic success. Create educational materials to further demonstrate subject matter to be covering in tutoring sessions. As needed, teach courses, online or in person, and in other modalities such as flex. Additional duties as assigned.
