UBMD Family Medicine seeking full-time faculty member to join our practice. Physicians are responsible for maintaining an active clinical practice at an ambulatory clinic and/or at a designated hospital. Active NYS medical license and valid DEA registration required. Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine required. Completion of residency training program required.
Job Summary:
- UBMD Family Medicine physicians are responsible for maintaining an active clinical practice at an ambulatory clinic, designated hospital and/or designated partner site.
Essential Functions:
- Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury.
- Orders, performs and interprets tests and analyzes records, reports and examination information to diagnose patients condition(s).
- Collects, records and maintains patient information such as medical history, reports and examination results.
- Monitors patients conditions and progress and reevaluates treatments as necessary.
- Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatment with patients.
- Advises patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene and disease prevention.
- Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
- Develops and maintains a clinical practice, which meets acceptable quality and patient satisfaction measures.
- Follows Patient Centered Medical Home standards, where applicable.
- Emphasizes team-based approach to care.
- Teaches medical students, residents and fellows (if applicable) in a clinical setting.
- Practices in accordance with UBMDFM quality goals, including accurate and timely billing and documentation, as well as managing patients in a cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for accurate and complete coding and billing practices.
- Coordinates timely follow up of patient requests for services regarding prescription requests, referrals, diagnostic testing and appointments for sick visits.
- Applies and actively shares knowledge, expertise and best practices with the team.
- Displays flexibility and openness in daily.
- Accepts and is adaptable to changing priorities, new ideas, strategies, procedures and methods.
- Represents UBMD Family Medicine by displaying respectful and caring manner with patients and their families. Demonstrates and promotes respect towards coworkers and adapts behaviors to work effectively with varying people and situations. Models professional attitude and behavior at all times.
- Independently problem solves and utilizes resources to obtain patient information when patient is unable to communicate.
- Responsible for accumulating all relevant information prior to making job related decisions. Presents well-considered alternatives when making recommendations. Makes decisions in a timely manner.
- Maintains active clinical privileges at specified hospital, where applicable.
- Responsible for supervising nurse practitioner(s) and/or physician assistant(s), when applicable and required.
- Participates in the academic and administrative activities of the Department of Family Medicine, as appropriate.
- Ability to meet productivity goals which can affect compensation based on annual goal reviews.
- Ability to work designated hours per week on a regular basis, except during times when paid time off is requested and approved. Regular attendance is required.
- Reviews and addresses daily tasks as assigned.
- Complies with all OSHA regulations, where applicable.
- Adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies and procedures.
Other Functions:
- Attends required clinic and/or administrative meetings.
- Refers patients to proper resource(s) for policies such as billing support.
- Provides patient with education materials, distribution of resource literature from insurance carriers and community service recommendations.
- Reviews company email on at least a daily basis in order to receive and address notifications and/or other pertinent information in a timely manner.
- Any other duties as requested or assigned by the Medical Director, President & CEO and/or other management representative. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- May be required to travel to other UBMDFM location(s) dependent on company need.
- Work hours may fluctuate depending on company/clinic needs.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of graduate medical education program. Completion of residency training program. Completion of addiction medicine fellowship program, if applicable.
Requirements:
- Active New York State medical license. Valid DEA registration. Board certification in family medicine and/or addiction medicine. Active hospital staff privileges, if applicable. Enrolled in HMO s, Medicaid and Medicare, as well as workers compensation, if applicable.
Experience:
- New graduates are welcome to apply. Experience as a physician in an outpatient clinic setting, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human disease, illness and/or injury. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions and preventive healthcare measures. Proficiency in electronic medical records preferred. Excellent communication skills required. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required.
Working/Environment Conditions:
- Position is in a well-lit, fast-paced, clean office environment.
- Office noise level will be mild to moderate most times.
- Moderate/average indoor temperatures.
- Travel to various sites via use of personal vehicle, as needed.
- Exposure to occupational health hazards possible while working in a clinic/hospital setting.
