Job Description: 7th Grade Volleyball Coach

Position Title: 7th Grade Volleyball Coach
Reports To: Athletic Director / Middle School Principal
Location: Tri-West Middle School
Position Type: Seasonal / Stipend Position

Position Summary:

The 7th Grade Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and managing the 7th grade volleyball team. The coach will focus on skill development, team culture, and sportsmanship, while promoting the physical and mental growth of student-athletes in accordance with school and IHSAA standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and conduct effective practices focused on individual and team development.
  • Teach fundamental volleyball skills, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school athletes.
  • Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, and team functions.
  • Model positive behavior and foster a team culture of respect, accountability, and sportsmanship.
  • Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team needs.
  • Ensure proper care and inventory of equipment and uniforms.
  • Attend all scheduled games, practices, and relevant athletic department meetings.
  • Follow all school policies, procedures, and IHSAA guidelines.
  • Promote academic accountability and character development in student-athletes.
  • Report any injuries, incidents, or concerns to appropriate school personnel immediately.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework preferred.
  • Previous experience coaching or playing volleyball preferred, especially at the middle or high school level.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass required background checks and complete all district and IHSAA coaching requirements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to positively motivate and mentor middle school students.
Work Environment and Schedule:
  • Practices typically held after school hours.
  • Includes evening and weekend games or tournaments as scheduled.
  • Season generally runs from Insert approximate start date through Insert approximate end date .
Salary:
Stipend per NWHSC Coaching Pay Schedule.
