Job Description: Middle School Athletics Coaches will be responsible for designing and implementing effective practice and game/match plans that focus on personal and skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Athletics Coaches will mentor and motivate players, fostering a positive and supportive team environment in which each player can thrive both on and off the court. In addition to coaching during practices and games, Athletics Coaches will also serve as a mentor, guiding players in their academic and personal growth. The role of an Athletics Coach will include communicating regularly with parents, school administrators, and fellow coaches to ensure the success and well-being of the team. All coaches are expected to attend all practices and games, ride the bus to each away event, supervise students before and after games and practices, and are responsible for students until they are picked up or have left school grounds.
- Knowledge in particular sport based upon experience as a participant and/or coach
- Directly responsible to the athletic director in liaison with the principal
- Demonstrated ability in recognizing that the growth and development of each student-athlete requires meeting their individual needs
- Must complete a CPR/ first aid and concussion trainings per district requirements
Duties and Responsibilities: - Teach fundamentals and skills
- Organize and run practice sessions
- Teach rules and regulations
- Display and teach good sportsmanship
- Assist in maintaining, issuing, and collecting of all equipment and supplies
- Supervise players at all times (practices, home games, en route to away games and return home from away games) until parent pick up
- Notify athletic director immediately of any student injury requiring medical attention
- Direct and supervise assistant coach (if applicable)
- Comply with all Athletic Department, school, and League Rules and Regulations
- Attend all coaches' meetings, practices, and contests
- Verify academic eligibility of all players with Athletic Director
- Communicates program expectations to student-athletes and parents
- Monitor each athlete's athletic and academic performance
- Establish and maintain consistent standards of behavior
Working Conditions: $3,891 in accordance with the NSEA Contract Level 1 Stipends.
