Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced 5th Grade Lead Teacher to join our elementary faculty for the school year. This is a full-time, on-campus position (not remote), and candidates must be based in the Los Angeles area. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, structure, and a deep love for teaching to a classroom that supports the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of each student.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead instruction in core subjects: English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Integrate Christian values and Armenian cultural elements into daily instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and assessments.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school events and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Valid teaching credential or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in upper elementary grades.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to the Christian mission of Merdinian School.
  • Familiarity with Armenian culture and language is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be based in the Los Angeles area and available to work on campus.
