Title: 3rd Shift Custodial Supervisor - Winnetka Campus Salary Grade: Custodial/Grounds Group
Assignment/Hours: 12-month; 10:30 pm - 7:00 am
Reports to: Operations Manager, Facilities Manager, Director of Physical Plant Services
Compensation: $22.27/hour
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years of custodial experience.
- Minimum of two years supervisory custodial experience (or prior managerial/leadership training); preferably in an institutional setting such as a public school.
- Valid Illinois driver's license.
- Ability to regularly lift and handle items weighing at least 50 pounds, occasionally more
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: - Knowledge of and ability to train staff in the proper utilization of chemicals, equipment and cleaning procedures and techniques.
- Ability to effectively supervise multiple personnel and provide instructions and directions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to recognize occupational hazards and take appropriate safety precautions.
- Ability to prepare accurate records and reports.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance activities on cleaning equipment.
- Ability to effectively utilize technology, including hand-held radios, computers, voice mail messaging system, base radio, etc.
- Physical ability to perform all essential custodial duties requiring bending, walking, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching, moving items, climbing stairs or ladders, kneeling, and lifting; ability to perform manual work including dumping large bags into dumpster or transporting supplies, furniture, or equipment.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and distinctly with district staff, students, parents, and community members.
Responsibilities: - Supervises custodians in the proper performance of their duties which includes sweeping, mopping, waxing, operating cleaning equipment of all types, general cleaning duties and special event set-ups.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with all members of the Physical Plant Services Department, other staff members, district officials and community members.
- Coordinates work schedules to ensure timely and effective completion of all cleaning activities and special program set-up activities.
- Ensures that the right cleaning equipment and supplies are available for the team.
- Performs daily checks and inspections of areas supported by the custodial staff.
- Receives, analyzes and routes work orders for necessary repairs.
- Performs minor maintenance activities on cleaning equipment.
- Oversees all supply distribution activities for the individuals in their area of supervision.
- Maintains security of designated areas.
- Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
